The Royal College of Pharmacy has appointed three new trustees to the Trustee Board of the College and elected a final member from the Senate.
The trustees appointed are:
- Jacob Lant, chief executive of National Voices, the leading coalition of health and social care charities in England, with more than 200 members covering a diverse range of health conditions and communities
- Katie Mantell, chief executive RCVS Knowledge, the charity partner of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
- John Turner, a chartered accountant and former investment banker who now is a board member of several charities.
The newly elected trustee from the Senate is Professor Claire Anderson.
The Board of Trustees holds ultimate responsibility for the RCP’s governance, strategy, and legal compliance. It provides strategic oversight, ensuring the College meets its legal and charitable duties, and holds the executive team to account for delivery.
The Board meets four to six times a year. Its first meeting will be on 23 April, when the vice chair will be selected.
A majority of the Trustee Board are registered pharmacists, drawn from the Senate, the governance body of the College, which advises the trustees on professional matters. The president and three National Pharmacy Advisory Council chairs will also serve as trustees.
Tase Oputu, president of the RCP, said: “With its Trustee Board now strengthened, the Royal College of Pharmacy has the leadership and governance in place that will support its ambitions to establish a strong, credible and future‑focused professional leadership body, supporting professionals and driving excellence in practice for the benefit of patients and the public.”
